Correism denounces fraud
For his part, Luisa González did not accept the results of the CNE, which he accuses of favoring Noboa, and said that “Ecuador is living a dictatorship and the most grotesque fraud in its history.”
The presidential candidate said that “the citizen revolution has always recognized a defeat when the surveys and ‘trackings'” have demonstrated, but emphasized that this was not the case and anticipated that her party will ask for a reconteo of the votes.
According to González – a press reports – the surveys gave it as a winner, even those closest to the Noboa government, while two polls in the urn’s mouth had opposite results, but with margins much more closed than the one that the current president would officially have achieved.
In addition, both she and Rafael Correa referred to the fact that the candidate now achieved the almost the same result as in the first round.
“How can it be credible that even a vote was not grew? How can it be credible that eleven surveys were wrong?” Gonzalez asked.
“Everyone knows that these results are impossible. We get the same 44 % of the first round. These gangsters could hide a little more,” consideredFor his part, Rafael Correa.

THE ELECTORAL AND THE FUTURE
The elections were held in a country affected by a growing violence linked to drug trafficking and an economic crisis that has generated frequent blackouts and social discontent.
In this scenario, participation in the second electoral round amounted to 83.76 % – they were summoned to vote more than 13.7 million Ecuadorians – and the day was developed normally, according to the authorities.
However, the press offices highlight the strong prevailing security measures, with hooded soldiers and with long weapons on the street, due to the “internal armed conflict” declared by Noboa since the beginning of 2024 to counteract criminal violence in the country.
Precisely, the fight against crime remains one of the buzas of the current president for his second term, as well as economic revitalization under his plan called “New Ecuador.”
Although Noboa was already proclaimed winner for the CNE, it remains to be seen what could happen to the questions of the results and the demand of a reconteo by Luisa González and the supporters of the citizen revolution.
This, in the opinion of analysts, could prolong the political uncertainty in Ecuador and accentuate polarization in the country, which would be added to existing economic and social problems and add new tensions to Daniel Noboa’s new mandate.
