The decision to suspend the official passage between the two nations was established in March 2020, within the framework of the biosafety protocol to combat Covid-19.

On behalf of the carriers, he thanked the mutual determination to facilitate the crossing of the bordering areas to deliver their products in both parts.
For his part, Duque ratified Colombia’s commitment to provide full advisory support, accompaniment and integration in security capacities to face drug trafficking and terrorism.
Other decisions derived from the meeting held this day included issues related to the fight against climate change and the agenda towards entrepreneurship and innovation.
The parties also agreed to approve the repatriation, in accordance with the law, of approximately 170 Colombian inmates serving sentences in prisons in this Andean nation.
In this regard, Duque clarified that a continuous and regular protocol will be applied so that the process is timely.
For his part, the host thanked Colombia for its support and highlighted the issues agreed upon during the exchange, in which members of both cabinets also participated.
Both heads of state reiterated the good state of the ties that both nations share and announced that the next binational cabinet will be the coming month of December, in the neighboring territory.
