Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced on Thursday afternoon 17 about the theft of electoral material left over the presidential elections of that country, which took place last Sunday, April 13. Foreign Ministry directly denounced officials of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) for the fact that “undermines the country’s democracy and the stability of the region.”
In A statementreleased in social networks, the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry said that the unused material, which was in charge of the Interests Section of Ecuador in the Swiss Embassy, was stolen “by armed men who mobilized in vehicles without plates, who identified themselves” as Sebin agents.
These officials “intercepted the transport of DHL Caracas and proceeded to subtract the seven packages with the electoral material.” Foreign Ministry described him as a “repudiable fact” and pointed out that “he was marked as a diplomatic suitcase through the corresponding stamps.”

Ecuador’s complaint occurs after Nicolás Maduro affirmed that in the presidential presidential ones a “horrific fraud” was committed, orchestrated from the United States and with support from the Venezuelan organization Súmate. Daniel Noboa, who was reelected, claimed these statements and challenged him to demonstrate the transparency of electoral processes in Venezuela.

In Ecuador, this constitutes “a violation of the principles that regulate the institution of diplomatic suitcase as a fundamental tool in communication between governments and their diplomatic and consular missions abroad.”
The Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry also pointed out that, “by not having the minimum security guarantees,” ordered the immediate return of the two officials assigned to the section in Venezuela.
