Economic reactivation and peace on the Venezuela-Colombia agenda

The Border Plan between Venezuela and Colombia is framed in a work route with five border axes: Zulia, Táchira, Barinas, Apure and Amazonas, where work will begin on an agenda that has peace, economic reactivation and an environmental approach as its objectives. .

The information was released this Monday by the second vice president of the National Assembly (AN), vanessa monterowho in a television interview explained that “the plan is framed in the peace of the border, the economic opening and the climate approach to build an agenda based on reality.”

This agreement was signed last Friday during the First Binational Parliamentary Meeting between Colombia and Venezuela, held in the city of Cúcuta.

Energy, love and affection of the locals

Montero highlighted the joy and enthusiasm generated in the town by the opening of the Colombian-Venezuelan border.

«I want to highlight the energy, the love, the affection, with which this Binational Meeting was impregnated. The communities came together with the joy of knowing that there are no more divisions”, he said.

For the parliamentarian, this meeting was a «very great joy that we Venezuelans and Colombians have and all those who make life on the borders».

On the other hand, he considered that relations between Venezuela and Colombia should never have been broken and that now they are restored means a lot for both peoples.

“A history unites us, the same Liberator and Father of the Nation, and for this reason we must understand that we are brother countries that move us by unity and respect above all else,” he stressed.

Combat actions on the Venezuela-Colombia border

“Opening the border is a blow against the entrenched mafias that in one way or another began to be generated over time,” Montero stressed during the television interview.

On the other hand, he explained that the government of President Nicolás Maduro has made the right decisions on the border, which from the National Assembly we accompany “and we will continue to do so from the instance that we handle through the laws.”

He noted that in terms of security and defense of the border axis, the ministers of these areas have maintained communication to delve into the issues that are the responsibility of each Ministry.

More active borders

In addition, Montero indicated that the Colombian-Venezuelan border is one of the most active in Latin America and that is why the border axes were retaken: Zulia-Guajira; Táchira-North of Santander; Apure-Arauca and Amazonas-Amazonas, to start working based on the needs of those territories.

“Social support for Colombians in Venezuela, and Venezuelans in Colombia, is also being resumed, because now there are diplomatic relations of respect between both countries,” he added.

Last Friday, October 21, the First Binational Parliamentary Meeting between Colombia and Venezuela was held, within the framework of the reestablishment of bilateral relations last August, after the arrival of Gustavo Petro to the presidency of Colombia.
