This Sunday, Colombians will go to the polls to choose the 108 senators and the 188 representatives to the House that will make up the Legislative between 2022 and 2026.
Portfolio consulted with the candidates who head the Senate lists of the main parties and movements regarding their economic proposals and the discussions on this matter that they consider should take place in Congress.
(Businessmen and health employees, to the political arena with these parties).
Most of the proposals agree on the need for a new tax reform, in which small businessmen and ordinary citizens are the protagonists. And the job becomes the protagonist of several proposals, from labor reforms that make the hiring system more flexible, to giving continuity to employment subsidies.
Tertiary roads, rural reform, investment in agriculture and education and the implementation of a national care system, are some of the proposals with which the benches would arrive for the next legislatures.
“I will support initiatives that strengthen entrepreneurship and business creation. Sport is a tool for social transformation with economic benefits. I will promote the realization of sporting and cultural events as a source of employment”.
“The need to continue with the transfer programs must be reiterated. We achieved the implementation and extension of ‘Ingreso Solidario’ and we want to take it an additional year, and we are proposing to extend the PAEF in 2022.”
“We will review the recommendations of the Employment Mission and promote measures. It is necessary to balance the tax burden between natural and legal persons, and MSMEs and large companies, restructure subsidies and exemptions and eliminate the day without VAT.
“We bet on a tax that does not hit the middle class, it must be a thorough reform. Congress has pending such as a labor and pension reform, we need a medium-term economic response to improve the level of employment”.
“My proposal is to defend private enterprise for job creation. Legal certainty must be guaranteed. I promote actions to alleviate the pockets of Colombians, such as freezing property taxes in 2023. I also propose a labor reform.”
“My proposal is to defend the productive sector, the best social policy is the generation of employment, we must bet on formalization. We must increase the culture and sports budgets and we also need technology for development”.
“We will seek more investment in tertiary roads and the internet for the regions, to consolidate the countryside, with access to subsidies and financial services. The generation of employment must be given with incentives for the creation of companies and formalization”.
“As a bench, we consider the implementation of the comprehensive rural reform to be urgent. We need a differential tax policy that benefits small and medium-sized companies, and the creation of a public bank to finance SMEs”.
“Within economic justice it is important to insist on public budgets with a gender focus and a redistributive criterion, that is why we speak of the national care system. We must reach new agreements to attack current inequalities.”
“We need a new employment policy in Colombia that establishes a professional minimum wage, a subsidy for the unemployed, and a subsidy via compensation funds for housewives. And tax incentives for companies that create jobs.”
