Economic activity up 0.05% in September

Sustainable bond issues hit record in Brazil

As pointed out by the Central Bank’s Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br), released today (14) by the Central Bank, Brazilian economic activity recorded growth of 0.05% in September, compared to August. Considering the last three months, the increase was 1.36%.Economic activity up 0.05% in September

The IBC-Br gathers information on the activity level of the three sectors of the economy: agriculture, industry and services. It is taken into account by the Central Bank to make decisions on the basic interest rate, the Selic.

Economists consider the index as a indicator of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the official indicator of economic activity calculated by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

In September, the IBC-Br reached 144.01 points according to seasonally adjusted data (adjusted for the period). As a result, the index rose again after a month of decline: in August there was a retraction of 1.13%. In previous months, the IBC-Br had been fluctuating. In April and May there was a decrease and in June and July there was a high.

Considering the comparison between September of this year and September of last year, based on non-seasonally adjusted data, there was an increase of 4%. In the 12-month period, the index was also positive. by 2.34%.
