One of the largest cleanup organization is Let’s Do It World founded in Estonia. In 2008, this organization mobilized more than 50,000 volunteers for a cleanup day, which resulted in the elimination of 10,000 tons of illegal waste.
The action carried out in Estonia, called Let’s Do It 2008, was adopted in other countries and emerged as a global model, spreading throughout the world.
Today, the movement has grown into a network of 191 countries. At the local level, the organization that carries out the event is ¡Vamos A Hacelo, Argentina! a civic movement, which works to eliminate illegal dumps through training sessions and mass cleanup, raising awareness among the population about the proper management of solid waste.
Through the clean-up days, it is intended to mobilize a large number of people to generate a greater positive impact, managing to recover the largest amount of waste from the environment in the shortest possible time. These cleanings also make it possible to raise awareness and visualize the problem both for those attending the conference and for the neighbors, it generates a great sense of belonging to the common spaces and invites us to reflect on the fate of our waste.
If you want to participate, you can do it in different ways, either by joining one of the already organized cleanups as a volunteer, proposing a new point and assuming the role of leader or doing individual cleanups.
