The presidential candidate for the Alianza del Lápiz party, Antonio Ecarri, confessed that he would keep Vladimir Padrino López as Defense Minister, a position in which he has held for the last eight consecutive years, despite the fact that this ministry traditionally renews its authority every anus.
In a interview With the journalist Vladimir Villegas, Ecarri argued that he would try not to cause destabilization in the National Armed Forces (FAN) by taking over the Executive, so he would keep Padrino López as head of the military until he can understand the problems of the institution.

According to Ecarri, Venezuela needs “real cures” and considers that it is impossible to offer any without the participation of the Chavismo factions that will remain after a hypothetical change of government.
“Those who believe that coming to the elections they can do and undo without counting on Chavismo, they are wrong,” he insisted.
