Earthquake shakes eastern Dominican Republic

The National Seismology Center of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo reported an earthquake that occurred at 12:48 p.m. this Wednesday, in Punta CanaLa Altagracia province.

The telluric movement had a preliminary intensity of 4.5 degrees.

“We have not located it yet, but it is provisionally 10 kilometers from Punta Cana. Now it is too soon to determine the intensity, but so far, preliminary, it is 4.5”, seismologist Jostin Leonel told Diario Libre.

The earthquake it was also felt in a large part of the National District. So far no human or material damage has been reported.
