Earthquake kills hundreds in Turkey

A powerful earthquake with an intensity of 7.8 hit a large part of Turkey early Monday morning causing hundreds of victims in a balance that is still preliminary due to the difficult rescue work of the emergency services, the earthquake was felt in several countries of the Middle East, with Syria also affected.

There have been strong aftershocks that have hindered the rescue efforts, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan requested international help and at the same time reported that more than 3,000 buildings had collapsed due to the powerful earthquake, “has not seen devastation like this since 1930′.

Several countries have reported that they will provide help to Turkey to face this tragedy with rescue teams to try to save as many people as possible, including Ukraine and Russia have offered their help to support Turkish rescuers.

While in Syria a first report indicates that there are more than 500 dead and 1,500 injured after the powerful earthquake that, despite the fact that its epicenter was Turkey, was felt intensely in Syrian territory.

In Turkey, a preliminary balance is estimated at 1,200 with more than 5,000 injured, but this figure will increase given the magnitude of the tragedy.
