The shaking of 5.3 degrees, according to the National Seismology Center, which occurred at 7:11 in the morning this Wednesday, February 1, to the south of the Peravia province, it was felt from the border area to Samaná, according to user reports of social networks.
The epicenter was located in the Caribbean Sea 36 kilometers south southeast of Las Calderas, Peravia province, with a depth of 37 kilometers. As of 8:22 a.m., no aftershocks had been reported, nor was there a tsunami warning.
Users reported feeling the earthquake in the Cibao region in La Vega, Jarabacoa, Santiago, San Cristóbal, Constanza, San Francisco de Macorís; in the Deep South and the Border Region in Barahona, San Juan and Elías Piña.
In the east in Monte Plata and in the northeast in Samaná.
