The magnitude 6.9 earthquake on Thursday morning with the epicenter of new accounts in Michoacán affected 312,533 homes and businesses that lost power overnight in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. This is 3.5% of the total of the 8.9 million clients in these entities, where the service was fully restored on Thursday morning, according to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
The state company explained hours after the phenomenon that occurred at 1:16 a.m. that “it has been possible for the electricity supply to return to normal in the users who were affected in Mexico City and in the State of Mexico by the earthquake of the morning of September 22”.
The 312,533 users affected represent 3.5% of the total 8.9 million of the CFE in this region: in Mexico City 211,518 and in the State of Mexico 101,015.
For the restoration work, 263 electrical workers, 65 cranes and 83 vehicles were available to attend to the emergency. CFE personnel will continue in the affected region making repairs, reinforcing the electrical infrastructure and responding to any new reports, he assured.
