This April 22 marks the Earth daya date to pay tribute to the planet and demand the protection of natural resources, since with current consumption levels, in 2050 all resources could be exhausted.
Therefore, this day serves to raise awareness about the effects of climate change, in addition to Earth day serves to promote more sustainable consumption to live more in harmony with the planet.
Therefore, for this year the Earth day Its motto is “One Earth”, a motto under which different organizations around the world seek to promote social changes to ensure that resources do not become extinct.
In the case of Argentina, according to a study carried out by the Working Group III (WGIII), of the University of Chicago, the country is one of the most susceptible to suffering from the effects of climate change.
This, given that areas such as the Río de la Plata basin and the province of Buenos Aires have a high risk of flooding for the global warming. In addition, other regions of the country could present extreme temperatures in the coming years.
This has already been seen in provinces such as Corrientes, where the droughts that have been generated since last year, added to the high temperatures, have caused unprecedented forest fires.
Only during the first months of the year, the conflagrations managed to destroy 12% of the territory, and although after an arduous effort they managed to be controlled, the fires spread for more than 2 months.
This is a clear sign that the effects of the climate crisis put human survival at risk, and the permanence of natural resources, making it more urgent and essential to take action every day.
For this, it is necessary that the Government implement public policies in order to protect resources, but also that each person as an individual, be responsible for the impact generated by their levels of consumption.
