Corvetto recalled that this Parliament approved that this measure was applied in the 2022 Municipal and Regional Elections.

JNE President says it takes 230 days to prepare elections

The president of the National Election Jury, Jorge Luis Salas Arenas, affirmed that in order to advance the general elections to December 2023, a minimum of 230 days is needed to organize the elections. He indicated that the proposal initially approved by Congress had a start date for activities on February 20 of this year.

“I don’t know if by that date (February 20) we will have things ready,” said Salas Arenas because a cut in the electoral mandate has not yet been approved.

Minister José Tello: “This transitional government needs stability”

The Minister of Justice and Human Rights, José Tello, urged the Legislature to take a position of “dialogue, conversation and hope.”

“We have to assume a role from the Executive and Legislative branches of openness to dialogue, of conversation, of hope, which is what Peruvians are looking for. We have to give them hope. Andean parliamentarians would continue in office until 2026
