MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban Electric Union (UNE) reported this Tuesday on the interruption of electronic payment services throughout the country.
A note released by the state company indicates that the interruption is due to difficulties in one of its servers.
“The Unión Eléctrica informs the population that at this time electronic payments for electricity are stopped due to an existing fault in their servers,” indicates the publication, which was disseminated by official media of the island.
The entity adds that “it is working to solve it as quickly as possible, which will be reported in a timely manner once the technical difficulty has been resolved.”
In the afternoon, the UNE indicated that the problem it had been solvedalthough some users assured that errors continued when making some payments.
“We inform the population that the existing fault in our servers has already been solved, all electronic payments for electricity are enabled again,” UNE specified.
It is not the first time that the electronic commerce network in Cuba has collapsed due to events of this nature.
On January 25, a fire in the location of the electrical backups of the entity Servicios de Pagos Red SA forced the removal of electrical power in the entire facility, affecting the services associated with magnetic cards on the island.
That incident forced the removal of electrical power throughout the facility, affecting the services associated with magnetic cards, essential for making online payments.
On that occasion, the services of the ATM network, operations through the EnZona platform, Point of Sale Terminals (POS) and interbank transfers in the case of Transfermóvil were completely affected.
