During social conflicts due to the national strike that requires the repeal of Law 1386 against the Legitimation of Illicit Profits, five departmental commanders were removed from their positions and it is expected that the other four remaining bosses will also be changed, by order of the police high command.
Colonel Juan Carlos Mercado, commander of Potosí, was one of the first to be removed from office, after the first death was registered in that department (Basilio Titi Tipolo, 21 years old) during a demonstration for the strike. In his replacement, Bernardo Isnado Pimentel was appointed.
In his first remarks, Isnado told local media that his primary task will be to “Seek tranquility in the land where he was born.” In addition, he congratulated the population of Potosí for the 211 years of libertarian endeavor.
Santa Cruz
Vladimir Orlando Ponce ceased to be the chief of the Santa Cruz Police. The reason is that Ponce will become part of the police high command due to his promotion to general. This Wednesday, Subcomandante Marcero Flores assumed the position on an interim basis, but in the next few days Colonel Mario Medina Edwin will be officially inaugurated, according to police sources confirmed to EL DUTY.
Tarija
In Tarija, Víctor Velásquez Almazán assumed as new commander of the Police, in replacement of Sadid Ávila, who was dismissed after the clashes between people who abided by the strike and those related to the Movement for Socialism (MAS).
“I have had the joy of working in my town, in Tarija, where they saw me grow with total dedication, now I can walk calmly through the streets of my chura Tarija without any type of fear or something that I carry on my back, I am very grateful to all of you (…). I do not carry any victim of violence on my back ”, Avila told the media in the capital of Tarije.
He also explained that will go into passive service because he has already turned 31 of work, so he will appear in La Paz to process his memorandum.
Oruro
Meanwhile in Oruro was appointed as police chief Roque Arraya Vidaurre, after the riot police in that department physically assaulted the journalists when they tried to enter the main square.
Chuquisaca
On Chuquisaca assumed as commander Marco Gutiérrez Delgadillo, at the instruction of Jhonny Aguilera, general commander of the Bolivian Police. His appointment also occurs in the midst of social conflicts due to the indefinite unemployment that requires the annulment of Law 1386 against the Legitimation of Illicit Profits
The other four destination change orders will be executed in the next. They provide that Hernan Romero Segovia takes over the command of La Paz, Johnny Chavez Bascopé de Cochabamba, Julio Monrroy Chuquimia de Beni and Javier Maldonado Tapia de Pando.
