After two years of pandemic due to Covid-19, this Thursday morning the “Panama Black Weekend 2022” campaign was relaunched, which will take place from September 14 to 18, next.
Nadkyi Duque, president of the Panamanian Association of Shopping Centers (Apacecom), stressed that in a short time an international campaign had to be organized in destinations and countries that are priorities for Panama.
He said that today we have a large hotel infrastructure that we did not have before, large and modern shopping centers, we have more than 25 shopping centers in Panama, so this product makes Latin American markets attractive to come and do their shopping at our country.
Duque explained that for this event, in addition to the 25 shopping centers, three new associates have joined: Towcenter Arraiján, Chiriquí Mall and Market Plaza. At the same time, he revealed that the Restaurant Association will have promotions in various food establishments, hotels as well, through the Panamanian Association of Hotels (Apatel), among others.
He announced that there are already confirmed groups that will come to the Black Weekend, such as Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Colombia.
During the four days of the activity, sales of $100 million are expected, “which for us is very important, there are good expectations and we have a local public waiting for this great moment.”
For his part, the administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Iván Eskildsen, reported that with the Black Weekend they expect to receive more than three thousand visitors from different Latin American countries. “With this, progress is achieved in the economic reactivation project,” he pointed out.
The National Deputy Director of Citizen Security of the National Police, Omar Pinto, revealed that work has already been done on security devices and actions.
“We will provide security both inside and outside the shopping centers, both for nationals and foreigners,” he said.
