During the operation of Father’s Day, carried out by the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco), to verify special sales, offers or bargains, in the different shopping centers of the country, 41 irregularities were detected in the veracity of advertising.
During this operation, 930 economic agents were visited and compliance with the different regulations on truthfulness in advertising, established in Law 45 of 2007, was verified.
Most of the irregularities were due to not indicating the duration date of the offers (14), the dates of the special sales were expired (8) and exceeded the three months established by law (5). Other anomalies, 4 for products without a double price, 2 did not indicate the quantities to be offered, and with one fault: unidentified merchandise, maintained a double price and discount percentage, confusing advertising, and lack of information. In addition, 3 lack of prices in sight.
The constant training and guidance to economic agents on the rules of truthfulness of advertising and other issues, are giving satisfactory results according to the latest operations carried out by Acodeco.
