Kevin Durant, the superstar of the Phoenix Suns, signed a lifetime agreement with sportswear giant Nike, a type of association reserved until now for two NBA giants like Michael Jordan and LeBron James.
“It’s a true honor to stay in the game for life with Nike,” the forward said in a statement posted on the Boardroom website, of which he is a co-founder.
“When I first signed with Nike, I couldn’t have dreamed how far we’d go with this partnership,” Durant said of a deal for which financial terms were not disclosed.
Durante, 34 years old, It has been sponsored by Nike since its debut season in the NBA in 2007. Since then, the company has launched 15 signature shoe styles and also supports the player’s philanthropic initiatives, including renovating basketball courts in poor neighborhoods around the world.
“We’ve done an incredible job creatively and philanthropically. We’ve traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever. I’m excited for the future and honored to be in a very rare company with this deal,” Durant said.

Thirteenth leading scorer in NBA history, Durant owns two championship rings with the Golden State Warriors (2017 and 2018) and two MVP (Most Valuable Player) awards from both Finals. He was also part of the United States teams that won Olympic gold in London-2012, Rio-2016 and Tokyo-2020.
After four seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, Durant was traded in February to the Phoenix Suns, with whom he currently competes in the playoffs.
The forward, who averaged 29.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5 assists this season, will face Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets starting this weekend in the Western Conference semifinals.
