President Ivan Duketogether with his wife Maria Juliana Ruiz they left from the Narino Palace and they went to table 001 to start the election day this Sunday, March 13.
The president entered the building of the Congress of the republic, where he was received by the secretary of the corporation, Gregorio Eljach. Later, he approached the voting table and after greeting the jurors, he prepared to exercise his right to vote to open the day.
After his vote, Duque prepared to sign and mark his mark, and delivered some words of thanks and invited Colombians to vote with conscience.

“Today we are celebrating that we are one of the oldest and most stable democracies in this hemisphere and we want citizens to come out en masse to elect the Congress of the Republic and the election of presidential candidates from the different coalitions,” said Duque.
Likewise, he thanked all the citizens who go to the polls, so that “democracy becomes strong and solid”.
In addition, he asked Colombians to “vote conscientiously, with their hands on their hearts and without pressure. Without anyone trying to interfere in that free decision. That we reject and denounce if someone wants to coerce that right.”

“The freedom to choose in a democracy is something that we must defend every day, Let this be the opportunity to reflect on the wisdom of the proposals,” he added.
In the same way, he asked to choose “those who are really presenting proposals that are viable.”
On the other hand, he highlighted the election for the first time of the victims to be part of the Congress of the Republic, “to defend its principles and guide the country on public policies to impact the territories hit by violence.

“It was unthinkable that only the perpetrators had been given a place, when the victims by right should lead this discussion,” he added.
Lastly, he thanked the electoral organization, local authorities and the entire Public Force that will guarantee this election day.
