The president of Colombia, Ivan Duke, began this Wednesday a visit to four European countries, and its first stop is Luxembourg. There, the president met with the prime minister, Xavier Bettel, to analyze the signing of an Agreement on Double Taxation between the two nations, which will allow the promotion of investments in companies and ventures.

Within the meeting, the two leaders also discussed the European country’s support for Colombia’s actions to address care for the migrant population, support for Peace with Legality programs, the fight against climate change and the increase in operations aeronautics.
Luxembourg is the first leg of the trip that also includes France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

During his first stop, between Wednesday and Thursday, Duque will meet with the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Enrique; the President of Parliament, Fernand Etgen; the former President of the European Commission and former Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Jean Claude Juncker, and the directors of the European Satellite Society (SES), leading provider of satellite communications services worldwide, with revenues of more than 2,000 million euros, and which established operations in Colombia.
In the country, the SES created a subsidiary and is developing infrastructure in rural areas in order to support the National Government in closing the digital divide.

The Colombian president is accompanied by the ministers of Finance, Jose Manuel Restrepo; Atmosphere, Carlos Eduardo Correa, and Transportation, Angela Maria Orozco; the deputy foreign minister, Francisco Javier Echeverri, and the Chief of Staff of the Presidency, Maria Paula Correa. The delegation is joined by the Ambassador of Colombia in Belgium, concurrent for Luxembourg, Philip Garcia.
That day, the president ends his stay in Luxembourg and travels to Paris, the second leg of the trip to Europe.
