Duque announces the capture of “all” those involved in the murder of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci

Paraguay’s anti-drug prosecutor, Marcelo Pecci, was assassinated in Colombia while on vacation with his wife. Witnesses offered a description of who fired the shots who, according to various media, has already been identified as a 31-year-old Venezuelan. The Government of Iván Duque offered a reward of more than 400 thousand dollars for information to identify the murderers

The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, reported the capture of those allegedly involved in the death of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, murdered last May during his honeymoon, in a hotel in Barú, near Cartagena.

From Washington, Duque specified that the capture of those involved, including the material author of the murder, took place “in a shared operation of the Colombian National Police, the Colombian Attorney General’s Office and with the collaboration of the Paraguayan authorities.”

According to information, it is a gang made up of five men and a woman who would have planned the crime from Envigado in Medellín.

Duque did not reveal more details about the number and identity of the detainees, but promised that all the data “will be released to public opinion” once they have been reviewed by the judge. However, Colombian media have reported that it would be a gang made up of five men and one woman, including a Venezuelan, who would have planned the crime from Envigado in Medellín.

The Colombian president affirmed that the authorities have “important and robust evidence” to accuse them, and asserted that all those who participated in this “horrendous crime” will have “what they deserved.”

According to RCN the plan for the assassination of the Paraguayan official began once it was certain that he would reach Colombia. Apparently, the group was obeying orders from a 43-year-old man, with a criminal record, born in Salgar, Antioquia.

After days of planning and monitoring the victim on May 10, the alleged perpetrators of the murder went to the Playa Blanca sector, where they rented a jet ski that would have been used in the crime. The only known photos of them come from that place. According to the images, the person wearing the hat with the black ribbon is a 31-year-old man born in Venezuela, RCN said.

The Colombian attorney general, Francisco Barboza Delgado, also confirmed the capture of five people involved in the murder of a prosecutor Marcelo Pucci in a joint operation.

The Paraguayan National Television System assumes that the identity of one of those involved is a Venezuelan.

Following the announcement by the Colombian authorities Paraguayan President, Husband Abdo thanked the Colombian authorities and their work team for “the great result in this process of investigation and capture” of the alleged murderers of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci.
