President Iván Duque confirmed a meeting with the diplomatic representation of Russia in Colombia to clarify the presence of troops in Venezuela and the military assistance that would be provided to that country.
The president assured that Colombia’s concern is the support given to the dictatorship of Nicholas Maduro, which protects terrorist groups.
“To the extent that things are put on the table and discussed frankly, that allows us all to have clarity, we have a concern about the dictatorial regime in Venezuela in that we have to call things by their name, in Venezuela there is a dictatorship and that dictatorship has protected groups terrorists Colombians,” assured the president.
Recalling that the Russian Embassy in Colombia expressed concern about what it considers attempts to accuse its country of an alleged “interference in the internal affairs of Colombia”; Duke insisted that they should be given explanations for happiness military assistance.
“We are going to have the opportunity to speak with the diplomatic representation of Russia in Colombia to understand a little about the military assistance that is being provided in Venezuela; as well as the reason for the presence of some equipments that they have in that country,” he added.
The president assured that as long as everything is put on the table ‘and discuss frankly, it will allow us all to have clarity’.
