The president of Colombia, IVan Duque congratulated Emmanuel Macron this Sunday for his re-election as president of France and assured that the current president is “a great friend of Colombia and defender of democratic values”.
“We congratulate the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, on his re-election, a great friend of Colombia and defender of democratic values”, Duque assured in a message on his Twitter account, accompanied by an image of both leaders posing informally during a meeting.

Duque assured in the message, which he also extended in French, that he will continue working with Macron “for the protection of the environment, security and the strengthening of our cooperative relations”.
Macron was re-elected this Sunday by obtaining between 15.2 and 16.4 points difference over his rival, the far-right Marine Le Pen, in the second round of the presidential elections, according to four vote projections.

The biggest advantage is given by Ipsos with 58.2-41.8% and the smallest is that of Elabe (57.6-42.4 &).
It is half the advantage that the liberal Macron obtained five years ago over the far-right Le Pen. Le Pen admitted his defeat against Macron in the second round of the French presidential elections, but denounced “unfair methods”.
