The undersecretary of Information Management in the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, Leticia Cerianoassured that the number of people who apply the coronavirus vaccine is increasing, which he linked to the start of the fourth wave of the disease, which he considered “expected” due to the arrival of low temperatures.
“Indeed we are starting a fourth wave of Covid-19, it was expected that with the arrival of lower temperatures there would be an increase in cases, it was logical and we knew it could happen; this fourth wave is going to have similar characteristics to the third wave” said the official in statements to Radio Provincia.
“It was expected that with the arrival of lower temperatures there would be an increase in cases, it was logical and we knew that it could happen; this fourth wave will have similar characteristics to the third wave”
In this sense, he pointed out that “there may be many cases, but we assume that without a large impact in terms of the health system and deaths thanks to the vaccination campaign”.
Therefore, for the official “the most important thing in this context is that people continue to be vaccinated and that those who have not received the reinforcement give it to them”.
“It is important that those who did not take the third dose, give it to them, and also strengthen measures what we have learned, ventilationthe use of chinstrap in closed placesand the hand washingEverything will depend on how much we take care of ourselves and others,” he said in the framework of the presentation of the National Hypertension Plan that took place this morning in Ensenada.
When asked about possible future restriction measures, Ceriani indicated that “no one can give certainty as to what may happen, but if that scenario that we assume and that we see in the rest of the world is verified, of many infections but without cases or deaths, we will be able to maintain the same level of activity that we are having”.
“The number of people who come to get vaccinated is growing a lot and I think it has to do with the increase in cases and that is what will make the difference and will allow us to maintain the same activities that we have today,” he added.
In the province, all citizens over 12 years of age have free access to the first, second and third doses of the vaccine, since the reinforcement for children under that age was not determined.
Finally, Ceriani urged that those who did not apply the complete scheme approach any vaccination center.
“We are starting a fourth wave of #Covid And there may be a large number of cases, but we imagine that there will not be a great impact on the health system thanks to vaccination. ”
