The intervention of officials from the Immediate Response Group for Security and Custody in the Rodeo took place after a video went viral on social networks in which the political prisoner Saúl Cordero denounced that he had a release ticket for 11 months but has not yet released from prison
Relatives of those deprived of liberty remained outside the Rodeo II Judicial Confinement Center, in Guatire, Miranda state, to learn about the conditions in which their relatives were found, after searches were reported in the prison compound. The information they received was that “the prison is being seized by order of the Minister for the Penitentiary Service, Mirelys Contreras.”
According to the non-governmental organization (NGO) A Window to Freedom the intervention orders and the actions of the officials of the Immediate Security and Custody Response Group (GRIC), denounced by those deprived of liberty, would have been taken after the dissemination and viralization of a video, on social networks, in which the political prisoner Saúl Cordero, who denounced that he has had a release ticket for 11 months but has not yet been released from prison.

The relatives asked the prosecutors of the Public Ministry (MP) with competence in fundamental rights to guarantee the safety of those deprived of liberty.
Through a video broadcast on Tuesday, August 30 on the social networks of the Venezuelan Prison Observatory (PVO), the fact that people who have release tickets are not released by an alleged order of the Minister of Penitentiary Services, Mirelys Contreras, was denounced.
Less than 12 hours after the dissemination of the material, the families of the prisoners began to receive requests for help. According to the OVP, officials from the Immediate Response Group (GRI) of the Ministry of Penitentiary Services entered the cells to carry out a search. Those deprived of liberty for political reasons were stripped of personal items such as clothing, ventilators and even medicine.
From OVP we have tirelessly denounced the abuses of which those deprived of liberty are victims in all the detention centers of the country. Every day there are more people who remain behind bars, even having the precautions to be released and, worse still, having their release ticket.
