From the public company Bolivian Air Navigation and Airports (Naabol), reported that operations in the Viru Viru International Airport are restricted.

Jean-Andre Touchardregional head of air navigation of Naabol Santa Cruz, said that Departures (takeoffs) are temporarily suspended due to decreased visibility Below 1,600 meters, “this situation is due to the Bolivian aeronautics regulation of 1991, which forces us, for safety reasons, to limit departures.
While, the Landing operations are taking place normally, since for these operations we have a minimum visibility of 800 meters, according to regulations,” said Touchard.
The latter held that the return to normal performance in Viru Viru has no date, “The smoke issue is very complicated and visibility depends on wind and rainfall, and better weather conditions are expected within 24 to 48 hours.”
Because of this situation Nine flights were affected, two international and seven domestic, But according to Touchard, those flights were rescheduled and they were able to continue with their trips, because “there were windows (better visibility) for takeoffs.”
Regarding the situation of the secondary airports, especially those of Chiquitania, remained closed, the same as the El Trompillo airport, where visibility below 1,000 meters was recorded, “which forced the suspension of operations today (Saturday).”
