Due to the fact that in the last few hours a large group of control officials was infected, Chile decided to close the border crossing in Chungará until noon this Friday.
“Due to the high positivity in the Antigen Tests carried out on the officials of the comptroller services in the Chungará Integrated Border Complex, the closure of the facility was determined until tomorrow at approximately 12:00 p.m.”, reports a statement from the Provincial Presidential Delegation of Parinacota.
The measure also applies to Chilean officials who work at the Tambo Quemado post, on the Bolivian side.

This route is used by Bolivian international transport that is part of foreign trade to the Pacific.
In recent weeks, Bolivian drivers reported delays in the procedures due to controls against covid carried out by the neighboring country, which has generated extensive columns of vehicles.
In fact, to date there are nearly a thousand trucks stopped at the border. Many of the drivers test positive for covid and are forced to quarantine their vehicles.
