After 33 years of militancy, the former vice president of the Party for Democracy (PPD), Jorge Tarud, decided to resign from the group he helped found, “when you do not agree with the official positions of a party, it is better to step aside” , assured the former parliamentarian.
Tarud pointed out that he made this decision with great sadness, after a deep meditation, thanking the militants, together with the first president of the party, former President Ricardo Lagos Escobar.
“I want to thank Ricardo Lagos Escobar, who, in difficult times for the country, when we had to fight to recover our democratic tradition, had the courage to lead us and was our first party president. I also want to thank the thousands of men , women and young people who accompanied us in this fundamental task”.
Regarding his future in politics, the former ambassador affirmed that he will participate “from another sphere, contributing with my grain of sand, with my experience. But the fundamental task is for Chile to move forward and we have to achieve it.”
