An accident that occurred in the morning hours of this Sunday, June 12, on the Maripérez elevation of Libertador Avenue in Caracas, almost ended the lives of two people aboard a truck that collided with the defenses and was about to fall from towards the lower channel.
Residents of Maripérez denounced the fact and spread both images and videos of the incident, with the request that maintenance be done on that road, since accidents of this type are common, especially when it rains and the structure is wet.
“A more rugged vehicle. Two people who were there almost lost their lives. The call is to the Ministry of Transport so that they please come to solve this problem. The entire elevated, from end to end, is completely in the iron in the absence of asphalt, “said a neighbor who recorded audiovisual material.

Members of the government’s security forces and traffic officers approached the scene to investigate the incident. After removing the vehicle from the defense, they began maintenance work to repair the metal railing that came off with the impact of the crash.
The mayor of the Libertador municipality, Carmen Meléndez, also came to talk with neighbors concerned about the frequency of accidents. Accompanied by authorities from the Ministry of Transport, they listened to the complaints.
Those present requested that the road not be reopened until the problems were solved, since people could die if the appropriate measures are not taken.

The president of the National Road Maintenance Company (Envial), Isaías Narváez, explained to the neighbors that works will be carried out to guarantee the safety of traffic on that road, with the promise that it would not be just a “hot water cloth”.
“We received an order from Carmen Meléndez and we are going to attend to the flight as part of the Plan Caracas Patriota, Bella y Segura. We are going to close the flyover to avoid accidents starting today. We are going to do an intervention that will not be a hot water cloth, “she explained.

Reporter Dayana Krays shared a video in which specialized personnel welded the defense again. Meanwhile, the flyover was closed in both directions until further notice, while repair and maintenance work is carried out.
