In 2022, as has been the case for at least five years, the teachers of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) could receive less food vouchers for the December holidays than the Educational Support and Assistance Staff (PAAE), due to the misconception
that teachers have a higher salary than that of said workers, denounced professors from this house of studies.
On condition of anonymity, a group of teachers from the institution pointed out that, according to a document sent to them by the civil association Red Social Fuerza Politécnica –of which this newspaper has a copy–, the Ministry of Finance notified in the official letter 307 -A.-2231, dated October 18, that the teachers would remain excluded
of the benefit that they do have the PAAE of receiving 13 thousand 700 pesos in vouchers.
According to the aforementioned circular, among the federal government workers who will not be able to receive this extraordinary perception
there is the teaching staff; the scientific and technological; that of the armed forces; that of the Foreign Service and assimilated to it, and that of the entities that are part of the banking system.
stimulus still in doubt
On the other hand, the PAAE will have access to said benefit, which last year was 13,300 pesos. With regard to teachers, the document states that they will receive a end of year stimulus
, agreed between the IPN and the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), and which in 2021 was 3,360 pesos. This year said support could be delivered in cash, but it is not yet certain that it will be granted.
When asked in this regard, teachers from the Polytechnic stressed that one of the arguments used by the federal authorities for not giving them the same amount of food vouchers is that they have a higher salary level than that of the aforementioned workers, which is not necessarily true.
They do not give us this benefit because there is a false idea that we earn more, but more than 58 percent of IPN teachers are temporary or subject and we receive about 12,000 pesos a month. Those who are assigned 30 or 40 class hours and earn salaries of 50,000 pesos are a minority.
When asked about the matter, the IPN issued a statement in which it indicated that The legal nature of the end-of-year measure is an annual decision of the Federal Executive that is granted only to active operational personnel
from which the teaching staff is excluded, in accordance with article 31 of the Regulation of the Federal Law of Budget and Fiscal Responsibility.
