Dubai fire kills 16

Six people remain hospitalized after attack in Aracruz

Sixteen people died and nine were injured in a fire in Dubai. The tragedy would have happened on Saturday (15), but local newspapers only reported what happened this Sunday (16).

The fire broke out in a residential building located in the Al-Ras neighborhood, territory of immigrants and traders. “Preliminary investigations have shown that failure to comply with the building’s safety and security requirements caused the fire,” reported the local newspaper, quoting a Civil Defense statement.

Al-Ras is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Dubai. The fire has since been extinguished, according to the press.
