San Francisco de Macorís.– With the traditional civic-military parade, President Luis Abinader led the commemorative events of the 212th anniversary of the birth of the Father of the Nation Juan Pablo Duarte, an event celebrated in the Duarte province, where the Month of the Homeland began.
Upon his arrival at the emblematic Duarte Park, the president was received with military honors, a solemn act that underlined his inauguration as commander in chief of the Armed Forces and the National Police.
The president of the Permanent Commission of National Ephemerides, Juan Pablo Uribe, specified that Duarte, in his portentous dignity, holds primacy, without a doubt, in “our history as Father of the Nation and founder of the Dominican Republic, and this is so, because he exercised political, intellectual, moral and ethical leadership of such depth, passion and reasoning that he seduced and organized the generational community of his time around the supreme idea that Dominicans constituted a nationality differentiated from the Haitian, the Spanish, and any other in the world, and that, therefore, we should be a free, sovereign and independent country.”
The civic-military and police parade was carried out by the Honor Guard regiment of the Ministry of Defense, commanded by Colonel Luis Rafael Herrera Almonte.
The president and the provincial authorities placed a wreath at the statue of Juan Pablo Duarte, located in the park that bears his name.
Hundreds of people enjoyed the parade, which is an attraction.
