DT Diego Martínez resigns from Boca Juniors after third consecutive defeat

The third consecutive defeat fired the exit Diego Martinez as coach of Boca Juniorswho communicated his resignation this Saturday after the fall 2-0 facing Belgrano for the Argentine League.

“I simply come to inform you that I presented the resignation. I spoke with the people of Advice (Boca football), with the president (Juan Román Riquelme) and the playersand we decided that we are not going to continue in our role as coach,” Martínez announced in a brief news conferencein which there were no questions.

“We are all very responsiblethe healthiest, the best for the institution is that we leave the post and that in this way boys can come out in front of this difficult moment“added the coach.

The situation of the coach had already been very complicated after losing the classics against Racing (1-2) and River Plate (0-1), and the stumbling block against Belgrano only accentuated the low moment football and mood of the squadwhich did not respond even with the multiple changes that its driver tried.

Martínez had arrived in Boca in January past with the mission of replacing Jorge Almironwhich arrived at Xeneize at the end of the Copa Libertadores 2023but the DT did not get any qualification and the campaign fell far short of what expectedwith a balance of 20 wins, 15 ties and 10 defeats in 45 matches.
