Drugs seized aboard a ship in the Port of Montevideo

According to the journalist Underlined, Diego Píriz, the ship arrived in Uruguay from Antwerp, Belgium. The final destination of the ship was Paraguay.

The authorities ordered the detention of the ship with custody. Within the next few hours, the prosecutor in charge of the proceedings, Mónica Ferro, will take a statement from the ship’s crew. Likewise, it is planned to issue a notice to the authorities of Belgium and Paraguay, due to their relationship with the event.

The drug that the authorities found was methamphetamine and its discovery took place in the last hours of this Friday, he assured The Observer. In addition, as a result of the incident, the authorities ordered an operation to be carried out on the ship in search of more drugs.

Píriz indicated that the drug was inside one of the numerous cars that are inside the ship. So far the amount of this substance has not yet been determined. The aforementioned journalist reported that it is not the first time that this vessel has been involved in an incident of this type.
