At the Faculty of Law of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), an assembly was held yesterday called by students to analyze the judicial reform of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which is being discussed in Congress, in order to take a position on the matter. However, a few minutes into the meeting, at the entrance of that institution, several young people arrived with speakers and started dancing at full volume, which led to the end of the meeting.
Students Tonatiuh Guillem, Miriam Estrada and Alex Gallegos, part of the conveners, stated that “the authorities of the faculty sent their joints to burst the assembly, because they want to carry out a work stoppage and give the idea that all students, all 17 thousand of us, reject the reform.”
Gallegos explained that “the joints Those who managed to disrupt the assembly are from the so-called Invictus group, who obey orders from the faculty management. They are known as ‘the joints perfumed’ and respond to the interests of the authorities,” they denounced.
The students distributed more than 600 questionnaires to students of the faculty so that they could express their opinion on the reform and deposit them in ballot boxes. We are leaving because we are not going to fall for the provocation.
.
We will call a new meeting to inform about the consultation, but it will not be this week, but next week.
Gallegos said.
The students met with representatives of the director of the faculty, Sonia Venegas, the rector’s office and security personnel of the highest house of studies, to whom they delivered an eight-point petition, among which they highlight that university officials will refrain from participating in or promoting political activities against the judicial reform and the opening of all auditoriums or premises that are requested to objectively analyze the initiative.
