The Government of the City of Buenos Aires announced that, as of this Wednesday, August 17, it will begin to implement a new system to process the Driving licensewith which there will be changes in the process.
In essence, modifications will be made in the theoretical and practical tests to request the licensetherefore, from now on, the drivers who require the Driving license, for the first time, they will not test drive on tracks, but on the street.
The practical part will be carried out with double command cars that will be connected to a Monitoring System from where the route will be controlled in real time.. To obtain the Driving licensethe driver must make a journey of between 200 and 300 meters that will be previously marked.
As for the theoretical exam, this will be more extensive than the current one; In addition, it will be necessary to answer correctly, at least, 85% of the questions to pass it. It will also be necessary to present, as part of the requirements, a psychological test, a visual evaluation, a medical evaluation and another speech-language pathology.
The measure will apply only to drivers who request “the license category B1, people who never had license to drive cars or those who did not carry out the renewal process for a period of more than one year”, according to the City Government.
In case of not passing the exam, the applicant may make two more attempts, with an interval of five days to the first time he took the test. If he disapproves all attempts, the citizen must start the process from scratch; even make the payment again.
In this regard, the head of the Buenos Aires Cabinet, Felipe Miguel, who “Each person who drives a car onto the street has to be well prepared, with the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with imponderables and traffic situations”.
Validity periods for driver’s licenses have been extended
Together with the change of the exam to obtain the cardthe terms of validity of the category B1 license were also modified, which will be determined according to age and the results obtained in the evaluation tests.
In this sense, the maximum periods of validity for the document are:
- From 16 to 39 years: 10 years.
- From 40 to 49 years: 6 years.
- From 50 to 69 years: 4 years.
- 70 years and over: 2 years.
