A rock slide in the province of Hualgayoc, in Cajamarca, covered a car carrying four occupants. Only three passengers managed to quickly get out of the unit, however, the driver remained locked up for several hours before being rescued.
According to Canal N, the accident occurred a few minutes after entering Bambamarca. “I was fighting inside the car, I was fighting to live, I didn’t want to die. I felt desperate because the rocks crushed me more and more and I said: ‘this far. God, I am in your hands, I entrust my children to you.’ Come what may, because I felt that I was leaving. It seemed the end. It was very hard for me.” told Ulises Días Ruiz, driver of the unit.
It was thanks to the help of the residents of the area and agents of the National Police of Peru (PNP), who, after breaking the chassis of the car, managed to rescue Ulises unharmed.
“I thank God because God is the only one who can take our lives, he can give us a day, a year or a hundred more years”, indicated the victim.
After his rescue, a front loader removed the vehicle and the stones that fell as a result of the slide.
