Dayana Jaimes, widow of Vallenato singer Martín Elías Díaz, revealed this Thursday the causes of death of the artist, who died on April 14, 2017 when the van in which he was traveling along with other musicians suffered an accident on a road in poor condition in the municipality of San Onofre, Sucre.
The social communicator announced that speeding was the determining factor in the death of her husband, with whom she had a daughter named Paula Elena.
“A fact of irresponsibility for not wearing a belt,” Jaimes said in a tweet.

According to a court ruling, the driver of Diomedes Díaz’s son was traveling at a speed of 157 km/h on the day of the events.
For this reason, a judge sentenced him to pay 32 months in prison, that is, a little less than three years.
Armando Quintero, the driver who was driving the vehicle that day, will pay this sentence under the measure of “house to jail.”
However, it was later learned that the sentenced person will not pay prison or house arrest, after benefiting from the measure of conditional suspension of the execution of the sentence. “He will continue his normal life.”

About this ruling, the widow of ‘El Terremoto’ spoke through a message on her official Twitter account:
“Martín stopped being with us five years ago, leaving his friends, family, followers and followers with deep sadness and a void in vallenato music,” he said.
Finally, he stated that he will not comment further on this issue.
“Today I close one more cycle in a process in which I was singled out and judged so much. I will not give statements on the subject and I hope you understand it », he concluded.

For his part, Óscar Sierra, lawyer for Dayana Jaimes, described this day as “a sad date for the artist’s family and also his fans”: “An encouragement for his family that the truth of what happened is known,” he concluded.
