Driver evades traffic control on G77 avenue and runs over a police officer in his flight

A driver who was driving along G77 avenue and ninth ring road in the Santa Cruz capital tried to flee in front of the police officers who were carrying out checks in the area. For escaping he ran over a police sergeant who did not have time to react.

The director of the Traffic Operative Organism, Colonel Roberto Porcel, indicated that they prepared the control operation in the northern zone in advance, in order to prevent drivers from speeding and driving under alcoholic influences.

He explained that the agents went to the place with vests, reflectors, cones and others, to delimit the control area. But it was just during the reviews that one of the drivers ignored the signals, did not want to brake and made the uniformed flee to the sides so as not to be overwhelmed.

Unfortunately, a sergeant did not have time to escape and the vehicle hit her, causing fractures and multiple contusions. The man is in custody.

Porcel said that the case has already passed knowledge of the Public Ministry, in addition to waiting for laboratory studies to be carried out, since andAt the time of the accident, he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

“There are at least three serious offenses committed by the driver: the presumption of driving while intoxicated, not stopping before signaling officers to stop and run over,” said the police chief.

The police sergeant is admitted to the Figueroa clinic, where she is awaiting a medical report to find out about her state of health.
