The boys and girls still have time to participate in the VIII edition of the “Drawing Europe” contest, which this year is dedicated to the theme of Cuban and European architecture.
The contest was launched by the Center for the Interpretation of Cuba-Europe Cultural Relations belonging to the Office of the Historian of the city of Havana, regarding the celebration this 2023 of the Year of Art Nouveau.
From its social networks, the cultural institution assured that one of its purposes is to highlight architecture as an artistic manifestation, with its plurality of styles and typologies that show its evolution throughout history, as well as the dialogues between Cuban and European architecture. .
In addition, they intend to raise awareness from an early age about the importance of safeguarding architectural heritage, as a task not only for workers linked to restoration works, but also for all people in societies.
All girls and boys between 5 and 12 years of age residing in Cuba may participate, in two categories. The first includes ages between 5 and 8 years and the second between 9 and 12 years.
Due to this year’s theme, the works may reflect the different architectural styles, elements and typologies, as well as the dialogue between Cuban and European architecture, architecture in urban and natural spaces, and the restoration and maintenance work of the buildings.
To deliver the works, they must go to the Center for the Interpretation of Cuba-Europe Cultural Relations, located at O’Reilly Street No. 4 corner of Tacón. Main Square. Old Havana. The deadline for the presentation is next April 21, at 3:00 pm and each contestant may present a maximum of two works.
As for the prizes, three will be awarded for each category and as many mentions as the jury considers. In addition, prizes may be awarded by theme, according to the diversity of content represented in the works received.
The winning drawings and/or paintings will be used as part of the graphic design of the activities of the aforementioned Center and the Delegation of the European Union in Cuba. Also, they will be disseminated on the information screen of the institution, they will be published on the website of the Palacio del Segundo Cabo and the Delegation, and they will be shared on the social networks of the organizing institutions.
