In an interview with the program Getting Real with Demorifrom the TV Brasilshown late this Tuesday night (15), the candidate for mayor of the capital of São Paulo, Guilherme Boulos (PSOL), highlighted the importance of the “phenomenon” of entrepreneurship in the capital of São Paulo and presented a package of specific proposals for this audience .
Among the proposals cited by Boulos for entrepreneurs is the release of cars from applications, such as Uber, from the municipal vehicle rotation, and the creation of support bases for rest and access to bathrooms and power sockets for drivers.
“They are workers. But he is a worker who built his journey differently. And who wants something else from the State and politics. First of all, don’t bother him. Because the city hall often appears, reaching out to a small businessman, a small trader, to harass him. Or just with a bank slip in hand”, said the PSOL candidate on the program led by journalist and writer Leandro Demori.
Boulos highlighted that he incorporated a proposal from PSB candidate Tabata Amaral into his government plan: Jovem Empreendedor, a credit program for young people who are setting up their first company.
“I am making a commitment to this segment [dos empreendedores]. Which is, look, our political field is going to look at you again. Our political field will present real proposals to you and the city of São Paulo, from January 1st of next year, will help these people to have prosperity”.
In the capital of São Paulo, candidates Ricardo Nunes (MDB) and Guilherme Boulos (PSOL) will compete in the second round of the elections. In the first round, Nunes received 1,801,139 votes and Boulos, 1,776,127. Third place, Pablo Marçal (PRTB), had 1,719,274 votes.
“An important part of Marçal’s electorate voted wanting change and saw in his speech someone who spoke to their desire to prosper. So, I think we need to reflect on this. Where did we go wrong in losing dialogue with these people?”, said Boulos in the interview.
“Our political field, even because of our ethical commitment to have a focus and to always help the poorest, to catch that person who is there on the edge, who is on the street, who is hungry, or looking at the more formal worker , our political field stopped talking to these people [empreendedores]”, he acknowledged.
Housing and public properties
Known for being one of the main leaders of the Homeless Workers Movement (MTST), Boulos highlighted his proposal to combat the housing deficit in the capital of São Paulo through the use of public properties that are currently unused in the city. “When the property is private, it always depends on the Court. That’s why in my government program, we want to work mainly with public properties.”
In the interview, the PSOL candidate highlighted that he has already requested a survey of empty properties in the capital of São Paulo, belonging to the National Social Security Institute (INSS), and that he intends to use them, when possible, for popular housing.
“INSS does not work with property. But, as he executes a company’s tax debt, sometimes the guarantee is the property, the property goes to the INSS. And it stays there, because he has nothing to do with the property.”
Boulos highlighted that it was he who took the idea to the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to create the Imóvel da Gente program, also known as the Union Property Democratization Program, launched at the beginning of the year, an initiative that aims to allocate properties of the Union for social purposes, such as housing, education and public health.
“I, as mayor of São Paulo, will be a partner in initiatives like this and ensure that public properties, especially those owned by the city hall and the federal government, become housing for people who need it,” he said.
Security
Although public security is primarily the responsibility of state governments, and not city halls, the PSOL candidate defended that São Paulo’s municipal administration acts through the Metropolitan Civil Guard.
“I think that, many times, the progressive camp has made the mistake of not considering the public security debate as important as it is. It is logical that there is an element of social inequality [na causa desse problema]. We will never have the security of Sweden with the inequality of South Africa. Now, this does not mean that you have to wait to solve the problem of social inequality to take care of security”, he said.
Boulos highlighted that he intends to double the number of members of the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) in the capital of São Paulo, to increase security at bus stops, schools and places with a higher rate of robberies.
To combat cell phone theft, the candidate stated that he intends to take an action similar to what the government of Piauí has done and achieved success. “My proposal is to set up a task force involving inspection by the city hall, GCM, call the Civil Police, call the Federal Police, the Federal Revenue, so that we can act with intelligence where stolen cell phones are being sold and carry out a permanent operation” .

Candidate Ricardo Nunes was also invited to participate in the program, but did not confirm his presence.
