As the body in charge of implementing the incentives established in the Bill for the Promotion and Competitiveness of the Civil Aviation National, submitted by the Executive powerthe president of the Board of Civil Aviation (JAC), José Marte Piantini, visited the Permanent Commission of Industry, Commerce and Free trade zone of the Senate of the Republic, where he offered the body’s position on this initiative.
The bill provides tax benefits for airlines. It has 15 articles and aims to promote and increase the competitiveness of the civil Aviation on the Dominican Republicestablishing the conditions that manage to promote the increase of travelers to the national territory.
Also, establish new and more domestic routes and international to and from strategic markets for the country.
During his speech, Marte Piantini explained that “the Dominican territory It is heading towards becoming an air hub, that is, a strategic connection point where large amounts of passengers and merchandise are concentrated and transferred to different destinations”.
He added that Dominican Republic It has a unique, highly strategic location, and should be used to promote the territory as the most important interconnection point for passengers and cargo in the entire region, which will create a boost for international investment, as is the case in the province. “With this project the sector air Transport it will have the opportunity, as a country, to be more competitive and to attract more foreign investment as far as commercial aviation is concerned”, reiterated the president of the organization that regulates commercial aviation in the country.
In this sense, the president of the JAC reported that this body has been carrying out activities aimed at the materialization of this project. He cited as proof of this the expansion of the country’s commercial air relations, through the agreement of Bilateral Agreements with different countries such as:

The projection for the market national air transportUnder the scenario of current trends, with the approval of this project it will grow 98% in the next 20 years. This would result in 6.3 million additional passenger trips, Marte Piantini said.
The public servant explained to the senators that, regarding the contribution of air transport to national economies, the Organization of Civil Aviation International (ICAO) and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) conclude that the civil Aviation and tourism are two activities with very important multiplier effects.

In a statement from the JAC It is indicated that it is estimated that for every 100 dollars of income produced by the air Transport an additional demand of $325 is generated, and for every 100 jobs in air transport an additional average demand of more than 600,000 jobs is created in other sectors.
It details that this projection is achievable if and only if the synergies between sectors are maximized, and the States prioritize the modernization and compatibility of the regulatory frameworks of air transport and tourism, air connectivity and the processing of visas and other travel documents are improved, and passengers, tourists and tourism service providers are protected.
