Dr. Francisco Sánchez Cárdenas: ‘This PRD directive is not following the Torrijista doctrine’

The recent resignations of old founders of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), among them those of the former Minister of Social Development, Leonor Calderón, the former Minister of Economy and Finance, Fernando Aramburú Porras, and the economic adviser of the Ministry of the Presidency, David Saied, it seems that they have not been to the total liking of Dr. Francisco Sánchez Cárdenas, a founding member of that group.

According to Sánchez, life within a party is not rosy, “many of us have had very critical moments in the party. Although I understand the people who have resigned from the party and it hurts me, I do not accept their position because I think When you join a party, you don’t do it precisely because of the people, but because of the concept, the doctrine, the style of government of that party”.

He revealed that he does not currently agree with the party’s leadership and has continued to say so, “as long as the things that are happening within the party continue to happen.”

According to the former official, “we have had many unpleasant moments and we are going through unpleasant moments because this directive is not following the Torrijist doctrine.”

politics in the country

Regarding the political landscape, Sánchez noted that politics in the country has fallen into a philosophy of truly absurd clientelism.

“The policy must be based on programs, doctrines, ideologies and achieve the best result for social coexistence and above all improve the quality of life of Panamanians in all its aspects, I believe that if one maintains these principles, a better politics,” he remarked.

He specified that this government has had the least cooperative Assembly in the sense of adapting to the country’s economic situation, and that deteriorates the entire country.

“The deputies, due to this philosophy of accumulating power to be re-elected, have not placed themselves in the economic situation of the country. They ask for special items for them, because if they do not deteriorate the functioning of the State,” he pointed out.

He said that we cannot judge the Cabinet by some chips that have not done their job well. At the same time, he asserted that the president should make some changes.
