Santo Domingo.- The director of the Directorate General for CinemaMarianna Vargas Gurilieva, and the Director of Internationalization of the National Film and Audiovisual Institute (INCAU), Marcio Migliorisi, held working meetings with the interest of generating co-production projects audiovisual between the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
The presence of Uruguayan and Dominican producers in the recent edition of the San Sebastian Festival allowed the exchange and identification of common points on which projects could be developed.
As an example, the combination of existing financing models and mechanisms in both countries offers an important platform for the co-production of both majority and minority works.
In this way, Uruguay could serve as a strategic partner for the Dominican Republic in its relationship with the Southern Cone region, as well as the Dominican Republic for Uruguay’s relationship with the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic and Uruguay, countries that have experienced great growth in their audiovisual activity in recent years, present complementary possibilities and capabilities, as well as strategic locations in their regions, a combination of factors that represent a great opportunity for joint work.
