The Dominican Association of Airports said that most baggage incidents occur at the origin of the flight pathafter several complaints about alleged theft of articles in suitcases in terminals of the country.
In a statement, the association explained that airport operators do not intervene directly in the handling of passenger luggage, if not that the custody of the Baggage It is the direct responsibility of the airlines when it is delivered to the counter during the check-in process where your registration and route are organized.
“The airports of our country handle a large volume of luggage, which exceeds 30 million suitcases throughout the year, and as in all airports in the world, some incidents can occur in a timely manner”, exposed.
The association indicated that it is very difficult for criminal actions to take place with baggage in the country’s airportsespecially in those that are part of said association.
“Throughout the entire luggage journey there are intelligent security cameras, and for the opening of the belly of any plane that visits us, it is done in the presence of multiple specialized military and aeronautical authorities,” says the statement, signed by the airports managed by Aerodom, Cibao Airport, Punta Cana Airport and La Romana Airport.
The entity added that in the event of an incident with the Baggagethe passenger must file the corresponding claim with their airline, so that the institutions involved can investigate.
