The citizens identified as Maria Gomez Murillo, 45 years old, and Aleida Vallecillo Murillo20 years old, mother and daughter, were victims of femicide on the night of Friday, November 18, in the La Unión community of the Wamblán micro-region, in the municipality of Wiwilí, Jinotega, presumably by the couple of the young woman identified as Antonio Zelaya.
According to reports, the man arrived drunk at the house where he lived with the young woman, argued with the victim and attacked her with machetes. During the attack, the girl’s mother tried to defend her daughter, but the man also wounded her to death.
It is known that the subject is originally from Honduras and after the double femicide he fled towards the mountains in Wiwilí.
According to official media, the Honduran is known by the alias “El Negro” and is accused of also taking the life of a farmer a few weeks ago.
The Jinotega Police have not yet provided information on the crime.
The observatory of the organization Catholics for the Right to Decide (CDD) registers 53 femicides until November 2. Most of the victims were between 18 and 34 years old, while more than 100 women have survived femicide attempts.

Women in rural areas continue to be the most vulnerable. In the first three months of the year, the feminist organization already registered six femicides on the Caribbean Coast, one in Rivas and one abroad.
The organization regrets that most of the cases go unpunished and, according to its data, others are still in judicial proceedings.
For their part, state institutions do not provide information on sexist violence, nor on the aggressors, except in exceptional cases, in which they are presented through official media.
