Councilors of the city of Doral approved an agreement that urges authorities to seek permanent solution for Venezuelans affected by the elimination of temporary protection status (TPS) in the United States
The Council of the City of Doral approved on Wednesday, February 12, a resolution in which a permanent solution for Venezuelans protected by the temporary protection status (TPS) in the United States is urged.
The proposal was elevated to the council due to the concern that exists for the elimination of the aforementioned immigration mechanism offered since 2021 by the Joe Biden government.
At the beginning of the month, the Secretary of National Security recently appointed by the administration of Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, announced that the decision to extend the temporary protection status for Venezuela had been annulled.
Approximately 600,000 Venezuelans could be affected by this decision.

During the session, Councilor Rafael Pineyro stressed the importance of this measure to provide stability to thousands of Venezuelans who have found refuge in the city.
“Doral is home to a great Venezuelan community, and we must do everything possible to ensure that they have a safe future in this country,” he said in a video Posted by TV Venezuela.
For her part, Mayor Christi Fraga stressed the commitment of the local administration with this cause and reiterated the need for the federal government to advance in a migratory policy that grant greater guarantees to the beneficiaries of the TPS.
Along the same lines, the ViceAlcaldesa Maureen Porras emphasized that this resolution is another step in the struggle for the rights of Venezuelan migrants in the United States.
The Venezuelan community in doral has optimism the council’s decision, hoping that this initiative motivates the authorities to take concrete measures to regularize the situation of those who still face uncertainty about their permanence in the country.
