Dora María Téllez dedicates her honorary doctorate to the more than 200 political prisoners of Ortega

Dora Maria Tellez, Former guerrilla and now a political prisoner of the Daniel Ortega regime, was awarded this Monday, November 28, with an honorary doctorate, delivered by the New Sorbonne University, in Paris.

The recognition was received —at the request of the opposition— the Nicaraguan journalist Carlos Fernando Chamorrodirector of Confidencial, because the hostage of conscience has been held captive for more than a year in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) in Managua.

Téllez dedicated —according to his brother Óscar Téllez Argüello— his award to the more than 200 political prisoners held in the different prison systems of the country, accused of common crimes or for alleged “treason” or “propagation of false news”.

Confidential He highlighted that in Chamorro’s speech he pointed out that the doctorate “appeals to citizens and governments everywhere not to accept the normalization of the dictatorship (of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo) and torture in Nicaragua.”

Likewise, the exiled journalist in Costa Rica stressed that the “honorary doctorate calls on governments and movements of the democratic left in Latin America to define themselves around the values ​​and political practice that Dora María Téllez symbolizes, and to abandon double standards and opportunism for supposed reasons of State”.

He added that Daniel Ortega “cannot justify a dictatorship in the name of the left, nor can there be a true left, without a full commitment to democracy and respect for human rights.”

With this new recognition, the ex-guerrilla has already received two honorary doctorates and several nominations for international awards in more than a year of being held captive in “El Nuevo Chipote”, convicted by Daniel Ortega’s justice for the alleged crime of “treason”. to the motherland

The member of the Unión Democrática Renovadora was violently and arbitrarily detained on June 13, 2021.
