Although the passport is an essential identification mechanism for any citizen who wishes to travel internationally, There are alternatives for those who do not have this document, such as the digital ID card.
According to the National Registry, The ID card is validated as a travel document in eight countries members of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), thanks to multilateral agreements that standardize this identification.
Specifically, Colombians can enter Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. Please note that the physical version is also required to be carried for verification by the authorities.
